Mitsuo Shiraishi's work, which is primarily figurative, shifts between dream and reality.
Shiraishi's technical excellence and rich imaginative power, give his work an extraordinary balance,
resulting in paintings and engravings of exquisite landscapes and of moving instants of mild poetry.
Mitsuo Shiraishi was born in Tokyo in 1969.
When he was 19 he moved to France where he studied at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts de Lyon
and then at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts de Mulhouse.
Shiraishi has exhibited his paintings and prints regularly and widely in France and elsewhere in Europe since 1994
and his work is in public collections in France and Italy.
Poésie du doute
Le paysage, lieu indissociable de la vie des humains, constitue la grande scène naturelle où se joue leur fragilité.
C’est pourquoi, et fortement influencé par les souvenirs de mon enfance, j’y représente des fragments de leur quotidien
à travers des attitudes dont mon regard dénonce volontiers le caractère absurde.
Mais j’y fais aussi apparaître les traces d’instants éphémères qui s’ouvrent sur des moments de silence méditatif
propices au questionnement même de notre existence…
