Laima Eglite , one of the most versatile artists of her generation, alongside painting is also working in book graphic art and animation. Eglite trained as a professional artist at Janis Rozentäls Riga Secondary Art School and Department of Painting of the Latvian Acamdemy of Art. Duality, formally ranging from use of lacal spectre hues to nuanced subtlety of half-tones, from a bold brushstroke to a pointillistic pulse, is typical of Laima Eglite's painting, resulting in compositions that are, at times, static and serene and, at other times, powerfully expressive. Laima Eglite's solo exhibition at the White Hall of Latvian National Museum of Art offers a retrospective overview of the artist's work, spanning almost thirty (1971-2009) years of her creative career.
